Synopsis:
Famous Hollywood mogul Richard Sherman, whose latest film garnered him 9 Academy Awards and made over $1 billion in the worldwide box office, is returning to his childhood neighborhood in New Jersey to spend the weekend with his childhood best friend, Elliot, who considers himself the biggest loser ever. Elliot's better days as a successful editor-in-chief in a large publishing company are over as he faces turning 50 unemployed and struggling to find his place in life.
The two friends, accompanied by their old childhood friends, take part in a "Big Chill" kind of experience - looking back on the past, finding hidden secrets, and trying to re-define themselves.
"Second Best", an official selection of the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, has opened to critical acclaim. A great drama for mature audiences, it's a story about growing up, friendship, the pains of life and the inevitable - learning to face our own mortality. This brilliant ensemble cast is topped by Emmy Award-winner Joe Pantoliano (TV's "The Sopranos",
The Matrix) and Academy Award-nominee Jennifer Tilly (
Bound, Bullets Over Broadway).
